About the company & role
The company is a specialist in power switching and monitoring solutions, including metering and low-voltage switchgear used across critical infrastructure and industrial environments. This role sits within the Power Switching & Monitoring (PSM) team and focuses on shaping technical solutions to address customer needs, preparing quotations and tender documents, providing technical support on large projects, and visiting customers and project sites for training, commissioning, and handover.
Responsibilities/requirements
Responsibilities:
Propose robust technical solutions that address specific customer requirements within power switching & monitoring applications.
Produce quotations and tender documents for the company’s PSM product ranges.
Attend pre‑ and post‑tender meetings as the company’s representative.
Provide technical support to customers and the UK sales team on large projects.
Visit key customers to deliver training, product updates, and project reviews.
Visit project sites for commissioning, training, and handover activities.
Utilise corporate tools (e.g., CRM, Support Line) to maintain high technical support service levels.
Attend customer sites as an expert in fault‑finding, commissioning, and supporting internal service teams.
Deliver internal and external training for key stakeholders (sales teams, system integrators, large customers).
Support the development of integrated products and provide feedback on customer technical requirements.
Drive specification and promotion with end users and consultants; generate new business opportunities and follow up quotations.
Work with the national sales manager to deliver area commercial action plans and support target markets (e.g., water industry, systems integrators).
Requirements:
MUST have a technical degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent years of directly relevant experience).
Proven background in application/tendering, quotations, or technical sales for electrical/electronic products (metering, switchgear, protection, or related).
Comfortable visiting customer and project sites for commissioning, training, and handover.
Strong computing skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and proficiency with CRM tools.
Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and stakeholder communication.
Strong time management, organisation, and presentation skills; able to manage multiple bids/projects concurrently.
Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to customer locations as required.
Performance indicators (indicative): delivery against a defined sales target, development of new accounts, and a high volume of quality customer visits.
